About the US questions

The questions are our own. They are not real test questions.

Where the questions come from

Questions are our own, written from US government works in the public domain. The sources are the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence (National Archives transcriptions). We also use the 2025 civics test materials of USCIS (M-1778).

Civics facts based on public information from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (uscis.gov). This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by USCIS, DHS or the US government. It does not use their seals or logos.

How we make the questions

Answers that change

Some answers change after an election or an appointment. For example, the name of the President. These answers are not in this site. Find the current answers on the USCIS test updates page.

The real test

The 2025 civics test is oral. An officer asks you up to 20 of 128 questions. You need 12 right answers to pass. The officer stops at 12 right answers or 9 wrong answers.

This test is for people who file the form N-400 on or after 20 October 2025. Read the rules on the official 2025 civics test page.
